Bishop Appointed to the Atlanta Fed's Birmingham Branch Board of Directors

Brandon W. Bishop, business manager and financial secretary, International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) – Local 312, Birmingham, Ala., has been appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Birmingham Branch. He is serving an unexpired term that began June 12, 2013.
IUOE – Local 312 is an organized labor union that promotes the education and training of professional heavy equipment operators. The union’s charter was established in 1938 and currently has 500 members throughout central Alabama.
Bishop has served in his current position since 2007. He previously served as assistant business manager and president from 2003–07 at IUOE – Local 312 and in various positions on IUOE’s executive board from 1998–2007.
Bishop is second vice president, IUOE South Atlantic Conference; vice president, Alabama State Building and Construction Trades Council; secretary/treasurer, Central Alabama Building Trades; advisory board member of Go Build Alabama; and spokesperson for Alabama Building Trades Alliance. He is also a member of Masonic Lodge 929.
Bishop received his associate’s degree in business administration from Central Alabama Community College. He completed a Dale Carnegie training course in May 2010.
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta branch directors provide economic information from the branch territory to the district bank’s president and head office directors, who use the information in formulating monetary policy and making discount rate recommendations. Bishop was appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. The Board of Governors appoints three of the Birmingham Branch directors, and the Atlanta head office directors appoint four.
